Brant County FAQ

We know visiting a new place, when you don’t know what to expect, can be a little daunting. We (the organizing committee) have tried to put together this useful guide to help you navigate the area for first time visitors.

Question: How big is the town of Burford?
Answer: Burford is a town of approximately 1100 people. Don’t blink, you might miss it as you drive through… but it does offer a couple of restaurants, a pharmacy, a grocery store, hardware store, general store, two gas stations and a post office. 

Question: What is the closest city with amenities like hotels and shopping?
Answer: Burford’s closest major city is Brantford (approx 105,000 people) about 15 minutes to the east, which offers a Costco, several grocery stores, dozens of restaurants and hotel choices. 

Question: Where is the closest Grocery Store to the fairgrounds?
Answer: The closest grocery store is Foodland Burford. It is located at 109 King St #107, Burford, ON approximately 750m from the event site (about half a mile).

Question: What happens if I need a prescription refilled while I am at the event?
Answer: Burford has a lovely little pharmacy that can refill prescriptions while you wait. It is called Pharmasave and is located at 128 King Street Burford, ON. 

Question: Where can I buy things like hoses, RV plug adapters, batteries, camping supplies, cleaning supplies, lawn chairs, and pet food?
Answer: Warren’s Home Hardware and Building Center is your best bet to find camping, RV and caching related items in Burford. They are less than 750m from the fairgrounds, and are located on the corner of King St and Park Ave, 103 King St, Burford, ON. If you are looking for a specific item for your trailer or RV, the closest RV dealer to the fairgrounds is Town & Country, located at 251 Cockshutt Rd, Brantford ON. 

Question: Is there a general store in town?
Answer: YES! The Burford Market is the local general store, with everything from slushies and birthday cards to pantry items, paper products and cleaning supplies. They can be found at 118 King St, Burford, ON.

Question: Where can I buy alcohol?
Answer: As long as you are over the age of 19, many gas stations and convenience stores are now able to sell beer and wine, including the Pioneer Gas Station in Burford. If you are looking for a selection of spirits, coolers, or liquors, there is an LCBO located on the corner of Park St (the same road as the fairgrounds) and King St, about 700m (less than half a mile) from the fairgrounds. It is located at 29 Park Ave, Burford.

Question: What if something happens to my dog while I am visiting?
Answer: The closest veterinary practice is the Burford Veterinary Hospital, located at 63 King St, Burford, ON. They can be reached at (519) 449-1999. The closest after-hours/emergency vet is the Brantford Norfolk Veterinary Clinic located at 143 Lynden Rd, Brantford, ON. They can be reached at 519-720-0753

Question: Where is the closest hospital or urgent care facility?
Answer: The closest hospital with an emergency room is the Brantford General Hospital, which is located at 200 Terrace Hill St, Brantford, ON. It is approximately 15 minutes by car from the event site. The closest urgent care (for minor injuries such as sprains, cuts, minor burns and non-compound fractures) is the Willet Hospital, located at 238 Grand River St N, Paris, ON. It is about 20 minutes away from the fairgrounds. Please remember, in the event of an emergency, please call 911 for an ambulance. Just because bigguy17460 and KayTeeAre are nurses, doesn’t mean they want to have to work while hosting the event.
